Mexicali, Tijuana, Queretaro…
Hi there! I hope you are well. This week was full of family. I have never since kid seen so many family members. For me it is a big contrast compare to my life in Europe where I have no family except some friends which are scattered around and I do not see that often and my partner. I started the week in Mexicali and then travelled with my mum, auntie, cousin and baby Andre to Tijuana in order to take a flight to Queretaro. We travelled around 3 hours by bus, waited another 4 hours at the airport in Tijuana and then flew after midnight to Queretaro for around 3 hours more. We arrived really early in the morning. The whole point of this trip was to celebrate the 70th Birthday of uncle Memo and a family reunion. Uncle Memo is full of life and he loves gathering with as many people as possible. For 3 days we celebrated his Birthday in different locations, like restaurants and then a huge party where there were around 60 people and lasted from midday until around a 3 am, all friends and lots of family.
Around 12 of us rented and Airbnb very far away from the city centre but in a really nice area. I of course went as often as possible to the city centre to enjoy different specialty coffee places and eat some nice food and found also nice bakeries. Queretaro has been growing really fast in the last decade, and the coffee scene is growing. Plus, Queretaro has a beautiful and colourful historic centre full of churches, nice streets, plenty of casonas where now there are restaurants, shops, etc. As well as lots of small piazzas and parks. I have with me my Fuji-xt4 so I took the opportunity to take some nice photos.
To spend so much time with family has been a pleasure and also challenging, at some points it was a bit overwhelming to have so many people all the time 24/7 for several days. I took it as part of my learning, how do I deal with these situations and how it is to get to know family with whom I have spoken really little before this trip. With others that I frequent more, it was really nice to catch up with them. I must admit I got also a lot of love from the closest family members and that is something I treasure and unless I had this month free I would not have experienced this trip. So I think, it was all a very good chance for me to have family time and remember my roots and how we care for each other. There were some little special moments with some family members that I will always carry with me in my memory and heart.
After a long, long trip back to Mexico city, I find myself writing this blog, with almost eyes closed of tiredness. Long story short, there was a mistake with the bus tickets and we lost our bus, so we managed after almost 2 hours to get a car to go back, unfortunately there were several accidents in the highway so instead of making like 3 hours, it took almost 6 to get home. I am glad this trip from Mexico City, Mexicali, Rumorosa, Ensenada, Tijuana, Queretaro is over and tomorrow finally I will enjoy some more of Mexico City. I love this city and in this trip I have not been much here. I have planned some lessons, and also some meetings with friends that I have not seen since last time I was in Mexico. I almost forget, next week also we have the 78 Birthday of another auntie, la tia Vicky. So more family to come next week hehehe.
I kept as hard as it was my daily reading and morning pages, as well as my 4 times a week exercise routine. It wont help much as I have been eating delicious food in not so small quantities hahaha.
I hope you are well. Take care and see you next week.
