Mexico, Zihuatanejo, family…

Hi there! This week was really nice and full of travel. I started wtih the travelling on Monday to Berlin and then two flights to Mexico via Amsterdam. The flights were good and we arrived even a bit earlier to Mexico City Airport. We arrived in the middle of the night or just before dawn, around 4 ish am. Aki and I had an incredible week in Mexico City, including a three day trip to the coast of Mexico in the region of Zihuatanejo. I have family there and a very cool aunt that have some bungalows for couples. We stayed in one of those, right in front of the sea, it was incredible “la quinta Feliz”. The sea there is so nice and with very nice sand, you can walk without sandals and walk along the coast. The sunsets over there are some of my favorite sunsets I have ever witness, this time the sunsets were as astonishing as they were the last time I was here. The sea is rough and with big waves as it is open sea but there are some natural kind of swimming pool areas where is a bit safer to swim so we decided to search for one and then go into the sea. Being there was really relaxing, just exactly what we needed, my family over there is really nice and we share some amazing meals with lots of fish and seafood. Also finally a lot of latin humour and great conversations. Back in Mexico City we also met lots of family and friends as all were looking forward to see Akiho again. She was not here since almost  3 years because of work and family in Japan. My grandfather, travelled from Merida just to meet us here in the city. We saw him and his wife, two times this week. Aki and I ate so much Mexican food, including lots of ceviche, sea food, fabada which is a traditional dish from Spain, my grandfather lived there many years long time ago, so his wife prepared for us this very nice dish, also we ate quesadillas, huaraches, chicharron, pancita, barbacoa, tostadas, tacos of many sorts, lots of Mexican coffee, lots of sweet bread.

Here in Mexico city we hanged around, Condesa, Roma, the Zocalo and the center of the city, we took lots of photos of the beautiful jacarandas that are incredible during March. To be in this incredible country is always refreshing and every time I come is so different. I am different, so I see every time this city through a different perspective. To share so much time suddenly with lots of family is at the beginning overwhelming as in Europe I live a more quiet life. After few days though I get use to it and I remember how are the dynamics with conversations here in Mexico, where almost everyone speaks loud and at the same time hehehe. Here somehow that is not rude but part of the life, and it does not bother anyone, in Europe or Japan is quite different. I must say I love the passion and energy of my Mexican family, because they are so alive and always full of stories and jokes. My family in particular jokes around and make always some topic a comic one. I believe that is the character of Mexicans in general, even in tragedies we find the comic side to it. For that I am grateful to have this family, I am lucky because I did not choose my family and I got this one, so thank you God for letting me be part of this family and to have loving people around me. Of course, there are so many differences since I left so many years, now over seventeen years and my daily life and routines are very different from my parents and family. When I come here I stay at my mums and my uncle Javier, they are really nice and my mum, she shares so much heart through her food. Aki and I am sure we already put on some weight from all the eating this week. And next week we still have planned lots of things and food to eat. For example, tomorrow the plan is to go to Xochimilco and Coyoacan, we are a bit tired to be honest, but we look forward to tomorrow. We know is going to be exhausting but we don’t care. My beautiful father is also visiting and we are going to celebrate his  79th Birthday next week. I almost forget uncle Javier also had Birthday and turned 76 this week so we also celebrated him. Next week is Papa Birthday and we want to take him for the first time to a Japanese Restaurant, a really authentic one. We know this restaurant from few years back when we took at that time my mother to also celebrate her Birthday. Aki and I hope that he will enjoy some of it, although we are aware that it may be too overwhelming for him to eat such a distant food from the one he is used to it.

I keep doing my exercise and my daily reading and morning pages, I must say, it is really hard while travelling to keep my routines but I do the best I can.

I hope you are well and I hope you had a nice week. Take care and see you next week.
