London, home, cold…
Hi there!
As you know from my last blog, this week started in London. After last week’s concerts, all the travelling, and everything that came with it, I was feeling completely drained. I stayed in London for another two days, spending a lot of time simply walking through the streets and taking things slowly.
It was a rather introspective week for me. I’m going through some internal changes at the moment, and I found myself spending quite a lot of time in my own head. Sometimes you just need a few quiet days to step back, breathe, and let your thoughts catch up with you.
That said, I really enjoyed those long walks through London. I also met up with the Chinese soprano I sang with at last week’s concert, and we went to Chinatown for some fried chicken — which, after all the travelling, felt like exactly the right thing to do! After our long conversation on the train last week, we simply continued where we had left off. We ended up having some very open and honest conversations, and it was a lot of fun.
Then, the moment I came back home, my body apparently decided that enough was enough. I developed a sore throat, which quickly turned into a cold. So, for the last few days, I’ve been doing very little apart from getting my things in order, resting, and trying to recover as quickly as possible.
Now that I’m back in Germany, I’m slowly getting ready for the new season. I want to continue embracing the freelance life — pursuing opportunities, creating new ones, and seeing where this next chapter takes me. There is still plenty to figure out, but that is also part of the adventure.
Throughout all of this, I’ve managed to keep up with my daily reading and morning pages, as well as my exercise routine. Even when everything else feels a little uncertain, keeping these small daily habits gives me a sense of structure.
So, London is behind me for now: a few concerts, a lot of walking, some interesting conversations, plenty of thoughts… and, of course, a cold to bring home as a souvenir.
Not the worst souvenir, but definitely not the one I ordered. I hope you are well and please take care. See you next week.
