Berlin, Italy, exploring…
Hi there! I hope you are well. My week has been travelling around, first, I went to Berlin on Monday, then I flew on Tuesday to Pisa, Italy. Then I made my way to the small city of Carrara, very famous for the white marble. Then stayed there 2 days to explore, and then I made my way to Lucca via Viareggio and then to Florence.
Right now I am in Florence and being here again after 2 months, is nice. I really like this city and walk around. This time is different again, very interesting, having lots of time to have coffee, read, walk, take some photos. Being in Carrara for the first time was nice, and see from the distance the big mountains where the white marble is taken, the biggest of its kind in the world, I believe. Now, Lucca on the other hand is really charming, yes, a tiny city but really nice, full of charming stores and cafes and narrow pedestrian streets, all enclosed by a medieval wall. Being in Lucca besides the great food and nice people, I visited the house where Puccini was born, just at the heart of the city. To visited it was really moving, I saw among the things they have, the piano where he wrote Turandot, his birth bedroom, some letters, etc. To be standing on his place of birth was really special, I was alone in the bedroom, and it was the only place in the house with an opened window, the white curtains dancing with the wind blowing inside the house, the music from the background with nice Puccini melodies. I took my time there and just was grateful God brought this artist to this earth and gave him the chance to produce incredible music. Although myself being a light lyric tenor I will probably wont have much to sing from him, definitely, I can appreciate great singers interpreting his music. I am happy that at Mainfrankentheater Wuerzburg I was able to perform Rodolfo and Rinuccio. I hope however in the future to be able to sing again Rodolfo. By now I have seen as well many Boheme performances and I just love the music and Rodolfo’s melodies are just great and is so nice to sing it. I remember I was always looking forward to sing Rodolfo and how I got into the character, and the whole tale is great and fun and romantic and sad. Viva Puccini.
This time is October and I had the feeling on the streets of Florence there are even more people than in middle of August. I have the feeling this city is always crowded. This time I visited new coffee places and I like them. However I stayed faithful to the Vintage coffee I visited several times in August. The coffee is ok, but the atmosphere is really charming and I used this coffee to write my morning pages and do my daily reading.
I hope you are well and take care. See you next week.
