Hi there! I hope you are well and are having a nice weekend. This week I was at home, working on sending email to theatres, searching on their websites, which program they have this season, and what I already sang so I can let them know in case they would need a tenor to do something last minute. It takes time and energy and as a freelancer that is my job as well, until I find again some stable number of contacts and have more job and hopefully find an agent that will provide me with new opportunities.

I am also working this week a lot on the tips and advice that Chris Merrit gave me last week in Hamburg. I am trying my arias for audition and of course it takes time until I can get the sound I am searching, and also to adjust that, to arias that I have already worked. To polish technically arias is so difficult over the years because muscle memory is so strong. Specially in auditions, if you sing a certain way now, sometimes during the stress of performing, the muscle memory of how one used to sing that aria takes over, and then it is really difficult to get back on the way you currently sing. I know that very well and there is no sure cut but keep trying and get some resilience and acceptance of the process of singing. Specially when you want to seriously improve, you have to accept you will have to struggle until you find the way you want to sing or sound. All real changes are very challenging and sometimes painful but that is life. In any aspect of life it is like this, since are born until we go back to the ground.

I keep doing my exercise, daily morning pages and reading. I am also partly reading the book of “Influence” by Robert Chialdini. I will comment on it once I finish it. For now some is useful and some of the content is a bit tedious, but I want to get through it so I can have a more complete view of the whole book.
