Getting fit again, studying, Prague…
Hi there! I hope you are well and had a nice week. I am writing you from Prague. This is my third time here. This week I am still fully recovering from my cold. The voice is there and little by little more flexible again and finally all phlegm is gone. I am studying some arias and 2 oratorios for this end of the year. I was also organising this little trip to Prague. Tomorrow and the day after I will have the opportunity to have some coaching with Marcelo Álvarez and I am really looking forward.
I remember being student in México and I bought a CD of him with French arias and I really like it. Since then, I have always been curious to meet him and hear his advice. He has been singing now for so many years, he has a lot of experience singer and still active. I met Mr. Alvarez last year when he was singing Pollione in Norma ( Donizetti) at the Opera in Hamburg. After the performance I met him and his girlfriend. We exchanged contacts and finally tomorrow I will have the chance to sing for him. I am extremely curious to know how he works with me.
This week I kept doing my exercise routines and doing my daily reading of Holiday and Tolstoi. I also started to read a book by the neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor, who suffered a brain injury that left her left side of the brain completely off. It took her 8 years to recover to be functional again. Her journey is incredible, and she have a couple of books. I am reading right now “Whole Brain Living: The Anatomy of Choice and the Four Characters That Drive Our Life”.
I hope you are well and please take care. See you here next week.
