Thérèse, Orchestra rehearsals, Premiere…

Hi there! I just came back from a performance of Thérèse. This week I had the last rehearsals on stage with the Orchestra, and all is coming together better than I expected. The orchestra is taking a nice shape although it could be better but all in all it is a really nice work that Sebastian is doing, as it is not a professional Orchestra, for that, it is really good and I really like how they enjoy playing such nice music from Massenet.

This week rehearsing was tiring but really nice, we had the chance to sing the stage rehearsals with Orchestra and to check the last details and the dynamics between all of us on stage. It is really interesting how the energy of all the performers on stage takes a very big role on how all the story is told. There is certain energy created that unites and projects to the audience, this energy changes every performance. I am also glad that all the singers involve in this production we all get along really well. We exchange opinions and talk about singing and life.  Every time I do a production with new colleagues, is always an adventure besides the singing part. To connect on a personal level with new people is very interesting but also tiring as sometimes is a lot to take in, depending on each personality. It is always energy consuming but in a positive way. I am however glad that I like meeting new people. Since I was little and was singing in a Choir and travelling around Mexico to different festivals and also to other countries where meeting new kids and make music with other choirs together, it became a second nature to me to meet people. Over the years I have learnt how to manage my energy when meeting new colleagues. To give you an example, whenever I go to Mexico, a country where small talk is a big part of our culture I always end up meeting new people, in coffee shops, at the market, at the tacos stands, or other places, and it is always so enriching for me, as a life experience and also to learn from others and how they see the world and how is their reality.  Definitely together with travelling, meeting people from different countries and or backgrounds is so eye opening and I really appreciate learning from each individual I meet.

Yesterday was our premiere and Today the second performance, tomorrow we will have our third show in a raw, and finally after that I will have a free day and I am looking forward to go home for at least a day.

This week between the general rehearsal and the premiere I went to Erfurt, where Aki is rehearsing for her production of La Boheme and we spent some time together. I am surprised how nice is Erfurt in the summer and the vibe is really nice, at least from the days I was there. I am looking forward to see Aki in August performing Mimi again.

I kept my daily morning pages and daily reading, as well as my 4 time a week routine of exercise. It is always very challenging when travelling but I do my best to include them. This week particularly with all the rehearsals going on was really difficult but I managed it.

I hope you are well and take care. See you next week.
