On Rafael Rojas…
This week I spent the days practising and reading a lot about voice, different books that I have read already I went through them again plus I got this week a very interesting book by Richard Miller. This is the second book I read of him, the book is called Solutions for singers. I found this book on Amazon and I can really recommend it either for beginners or professionals. I found it really helpful and clear. Richard Miller has already passed away since few years and he met in person one of my favourite singers Bjorling. I wish both of them wold be still alive. I would ask them so many questions.
This week I learnt that Rafael Rojas passed away. I had the chance to meet him and sing with him in Staatstheater Stuttgart when I was a member of the Opernstudio in 2011/12. He sang a great Pollione in Bellinis Norma and I was singing Flavio. I was so impressed by his energy on stage and such fire and stamina. I was so inspired by the way he gave lots of energy during the performances and he was always really nice and encouraging. After that production I never saw him again but he was always somehow present as I was so grateful of the time we shared on stage. I was also very proud that he a mexican tenor was doing career in Europe. That for me as a young singer was very motivating. Life is so short and we never know when our end is coming. I hope that whenever that ending moment of my terrenal existance comes I can look to my life and be proud of what I have done with it. I promise you wherever you are Rafael I will keep learning and I will never stop having you as a role model. Thank you for sharing your art with me and the people you touch in all of your performances and in your life.
Until next time. Have a wonderful week.
